FAQ's
WHAT IS A RUNNING COACH, AND WHY DO I NEED YOU?
As a Running Coach, I help you to identify, define and reach your goals. I am the architect of your personalized training program and help guide you through the program to exceed your goals. I provide feedback and adjustments to your program so you can maximize your results. I am also your cheerleader and sounding board.
WHAT TRAINING PLANS DO YOU COACH?
What's great about hiring me as your running coach, is that I am the architect of your highly personalized training program, that is based on your personal needs and goals as an athlete. My coaching style is inspired and influenced from a variety of programs I've tried including; Hal Higdon, Jeff Galloway, the Hanson's Method, and the FIRST programs. My programs include* running workouts, cross training and strength training workouts, and planned rest and recovery days.
HOW MUCH ARE YOUR COACHING SERVICES?
Coaching programs are typically at minimum of three (3) months, but I can provide coaching for shorter periods of time depending on the runner. Please message me directly to discuss your goals and we can discuss designing a program and the rates associated. The Personalized Coaching Plan include unlimited coaching correspondence, personalized training program, feedback on the program workouts, strategic race plan and post race feedback.
HOW LONG DO I NEED YOU TO COACH ME?
It depends. Before we can determine the length of time you need me, we need to discuss your goals; where you are today and where you want to be on race day. The minimum time I want with each athlete is three months (12 weeks).
DO I NEED TO BE AT A CERTAIN ATHLETIC LEVEL TO HIRE YOU AS MY COACH?
Nope! I coach athletes of all abilities and levels. I especially love new runners or runners getting reacquainted after some time off.
I DON'T LIVE IN LOUISVILLE, CAN YOU STILL COACH ME?
Absolutely! Thanks to technology like social media, email, Zoom and Loom; I am able to provide virtual coaching to anyone, anywhere!
ARE YOU CERTIFIED?
Yes, I am a RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) Certified Coach. I also am trained/certified in Adult/Child CPR/First Aid and AED.
HOW DO I GET STARTED AND WHAT DO I NEED?
To be successful, you will need to be coachable, flexible and willing to try something new; be consistent, and most importantly the ability to trust the process of training. I also recommend that you get properly fit for a pair of running shoes and a sports bra (if that applies to you), so you can be comfortable.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A GARMIN WATCH TO RUN?
Although I love the idea of being technology free, I find it best to use a device to better understand your running data. I use the Training Peaks platform to manage your training plan which requires a compatible GPS device. Unsure if yours is compatible? Check HERE
DO YOU PROVIDE NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE, MEAL PLANNING, OR ADVICE FOR WHAT SUPPLEMENTS I SHOULD BE TAKING?
I can direct you to a professional who can assist you with your nutritional and dietary needs. Unfortunately I cannot consult you on what supplements you should buy and use, as I am not a registered dietitian or medical doctor.
I WANT TO RUN TO LOSE WEIGHT. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THAT?
Participation in this training program does not guarantee specific health benefits, such as weight loss or weight gain. While Coach Harmony Ray is committed to fostering a healthy training environment and assisting runners in reaching their goals safely, individual outcomes may vary.
